چکیده

This paper investigates how variation in forest structural characteristics affects the water retention capacity of gaps and forests fir-beech Dinaric Karst. Forests are identified as a key element landscape for provision pristine resources, particularly highly vulnerable karst aquifers characterized by rapid infiltration recharge water, high subsurface permeability, heterogeneous underground flow. Indicators hydrologic fluxes (drainage flux, canopy interception, transpiration, soil evaporation) large experimental gap (approximately 0.2 ha size) those nearby old-growth were compared over 13-year period using Brook90 hydrological model their analyzed. In addition, also simulated managed an reference. Water regulation was lowest gap, where drainage flux accounted 81% precipitation sum evaporation (evapotranspiration) 18%. followed 78% evapotranspiration 23%. highest generally similar both forests, 71–72% annual drained to subsurface. The results this study suggest that creation Karst significant long-lasting reduction vegetation due unfavorable conditions successful natural tree regeneration. For optimal ecosystem services Karst, small, irregularly shaped no larger than height should be created, mimicking naturally occurring forests.

Monthly and annual effective infiltration coefficients in Dinaric karst: example of the Gradole karst spring catchment

The problems and present methods for the calculation of monthly and annual effective infiltration coefficients in Dinaric karst catchments which cover areas smaller than 200 km are discussed. An example is given of the catchment of the Gradole karst spring, which covers 114 km. The climate on the catchment is North Mediterranean, with average annual rainfall of 986 mm, average air temperature o...

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...

on the teacher-generated v.s. leaner-generated noticing-the-gap activities in language classes

abstract the purpose of this study is twofold: on the one hand, it is intended to see what kind of noticing-the –gap activity (teacher generated vs. learner generated) is more efficient in teaching l2 grammar in classroom language learning. on the other hand, it is an attempt to determine which approach of the noticing-the-gap- activity is more effective in the long- term retention of grammar...

Payment for Ecosystem Services from Forests

Payment for Ecosystem Services from Forests Every year between 2000 and 2010, our planet lost native forests roughly the size of Costa Rica. (FAO, 2010). This rapid deforestation has dramatically changed the chemical composition of the world’s atmosphere, the level of biodiversity, and the presence of vegetation key to maintaining watershed function and preventing landslides. There has been a b...
